Community Policing

Community

The main purpose for all of the training and dedication to the professional ideal is community service. While every law enforcement agency is established to be its community's protector, this is especially so for the Oneida Nation Police Department. A full-time community-policing officer is dedicated to developing community partnerships that enhance public safety.

Every day, the department meets the needs of the 1,100 Oneida Nation Members. This may be through a safety program for Elders or a defensive driving program for its youth. It may be through a fingerprinting program to help ensure the safety of the Oneida Nation's children or the involvement of officers in the Oneida Nation's Kid's Day.

Few places are growing as quickly or as dramatically as the Oneida Nation. This community is overcoming decades of poverty and deprivation and is reclaiming its rightful place in Central New York and the United States. As it does so, it has dedicated servants in the Oneida Nation Police Department.
